My Freya fits me

Do you remember Freya and its spring summer collection 2010? All those colorful, flowery bras???Today I’d like to describe more or of them. Stanikomania and Freya just organized a creative-literary-photographic contest for everybody willing to try her (his) abilites as a lingerie designer/writer/photographer. There were two categories that you could have entered, first one: paint your dream Freya, designing a bra and later on finishing a sentence:”I created such a Freya because…”. The other category was also artistic although it didn’t require having drawing or paiting skills, your task was to choose your favourite Freya bra and photograph it in some nice surroundings, later on you had to finish a sentence:”My Freya fits me because…” Just a few days ago Stanikomania announced the results.

Kasica of Stanikomania says:” You did a fantastic job. All the designs were so creative and you put so much energy and heart into them that it was really jard for us to choose the best. Your designs took us to the land of imagination, egzotic countries, the world of your childhood, the world of nature and also big city jungle. You showed how inspiring everyday life can be. And finally you proved that even such a simple thing as lingerie can become our dreams and desires.”

Ladies (and gentlemen), here are the results:

Paint your Freya

Main prize was awarded to Cissnei for her bra collection.

3 more awards went to: Czikiratka for “My heart beats stronger”, Bialy Vilk for “Freya U-boot” and Ludeczka for Indian Passions collection.

My Freya fits me

This category was won by Zanna and her “Ballad about well fitting Dolly” (obviously you don’t expect me to translate the whole poem…)

Another prize went to Nephtys for Freeyadom

There were 10 more special awards:

-Roksana_bianka – for how to look good naked;

-Nathd – for being aware of feminity at every moment of life;

-Czikiratka – for multi-aspect of world not only in photograph but in words too;

-Gekon-factory – for a cosmic project;

-Lady-freakish – for the energy of a folk motive;

-Sybla – for a dangerous charm of a dragon;

-Zanna – for the design inspired by the Polish school of animation;

-Megane – for a paradise butterfly;

-Lagrandaya – for cherries;

-NM – for a masterpiece;

(quoted from Stanikomania)

The gallery of all contest designs can be seen here. As you can see there were really a lot of of them and it’s clearly visible how difficult it was for the jury to choose…Stanikomania is now invaded by readers who want to comment about results, their preferences and desires – wanting this or other (or all almost all of the projects) to be produced. There’s a discussion about creativity in lingerie, about a clash of crazy and sometimes impractical designs with boring, everyday, invisible bras. The moment I’m writing this there are about one hundred comments there…

What do you think of these designs? Are you fans of practical, basic bras or do you rather prefer something that is very colourful, ornamental, lacy, sexy, creative etc.??? Which of these would you really buy if there was a chance of introducing them into Freya (or any other brand) collection???

Bra fitting blogs and communities, part 2

There are a lot of blogs and and quite some forums about bra fitting in Poland as well as in other countries. I already introduced two of these communities to you – Big-boobed women’s Lobby and Small-boobed women’s Lobby. Today I would like you to meet kasica_k – author of Stanikomania (Bra-mania – “booby” state of mind)– the blog I was mentioning a lot of times in my previous notes. The blog that won for “the blogger of the year 2007” in “life” category as well as came first the internauts’ vote. It got the second place in the same contest the following year. In “Blog of the year” contest organized by a different website (Onet.pl), Stanikomania got to the finals and was nominated for the first place twice, however it didn’t win.

Here’s what kasica_k herself says about her blog (very modestly – in 3rd person;) ):

“Stanikomania (Bra-mania) – a blog set up in 2007 by a larger busted woman who wanted to share with others everything she has learned about bra-fitting and DD+-bras. Having gained a considerable popularity, the author was interviewed several times on tv and press, including daily newspapers and women’s magazines. This helped her convince thousands of women in Poland that “size does matter” and that a well-fitting bra is essential for comfort and good looks. She inspired many women to go into lingerie business or become proffessional bra-fitters. Her purpose is also to promote Polish companies and shops that produce or sell good DD+ bras so that every woman could easily get a properly fitted and nice looking bra. Some of them say that it is her who convinced them that it is a good idea to extend the size range and to start caring about their DD+ customers’ needs.”

Kasica writes about her passion – beautiful lingerie. She writes reviews of bras, after each one a good number of her readers tell themselves a mantra “I don’t need another bra, I don’t need another bra, I don’t need another bra….” She has a “busts alive” section where she demonstrates what happens to women’s figures after changing bra size – these articles are illustrated by real photographs sent by her readers. A lot of women got inspired to change their bra size after reading them indeed as the differences are striking. Some of these articles are also available in English – with more to be added (hopefully soon). She writes about what is available on the market and where– new collections or bargains and shops with full range of sizes. She also organises a “contest for sexiest bra” (2007 winner was Freya Arabella, in 2008 it was Masquarade Antoinette (D-G range) and Panache Sienna (GG+ range) ). As an author of a popular blog about bra fitting she was also asked for help creating a new Bra-fitter calculator application for iPhone. Stanikomania continues to be one of the most popular blogs about bra-fitting in Poland. This year it’s also taking part in “blog of the year” contest (organised by Onet – one of Polish popular websites). Who will you help kasica win this year?

edit:  Latest news: Stanikomania just won The Blog of the Year contest in “my hobbies and passions” category.  Congratulations:)  And here’s a link to a movie with a short interview with kasica_k done at the gala.

A little introduction about why and how to get right size bra for you!

What do you think of your bras? Do you think they are necessary evil, a cause of inevitable discomfort and you’d rather do without them at all? Do you have a feeling that  your breasts look somewhat strange in bras you have? Or perhaps you feel bad with the size that you were given at a lingerie shop? Do you put off shopping for bras over and over again because you know you’ll come back empty handed and furious. Or you may have an impression that you have never actually had a good bra and that this piece of garment is an invention out of hell?

Most women, unfortunately, are  not aware that something is wrong with their bras and even if they are, they usually blame their bodies and breasts for the problem.   Well, I did it myself too… I lived most of my life in a Bra Matrix, thinking (like most of the population) that  cup A means small breasts, B – breasts that are slightly bigger, C cup – well, quite big, D – very big. I used to think that bra underbands started at 70 and went to 90 (perhaps 95). I also used to think that I have big breasts as I had to wear 75D and it was too small – I also blamed my boobs for being too big, for not fitting into what was available in shops. Practicing sports was painful and uncomfortable as my breast were not properly supported by bras that I had. But more or less a year ago  I was given a red pill to awaken from this Matrix reality me and my breasts were pushed in (as says Katinkowa from Stanikowy Matrix – one of many Polish blogs about bras and bra-fitting). It completely changed my way of looking at bras. It changed the size that I wear. Now I feel comfortable – I know I can do anything and my breasts will stay inside the cups and nothing will spill making me look as if I had 4 breasts instead of just 2, I know the bra won’t move around my body, I know the underwires won’t poke into my breast tissue either. I know the straps won’t dig into my shoulders even though I can wear quite thin ones with my new size. I know I won’t suffer from back pain due to weight of my breasts too now that they are properly supported. Can you ladies, with your hands on your hearts, say the same?

I came to live in Portugal several months ago and from the very start I was able to notice that almost all of you must feel very uncomfortable in your bras. It’s quite easy to spot for a trained eye (and even untrained eye can sometimes see that that something is not right). With the coming of summer, when everybody starts to wear light clothes it’s even more visible.

Will you take a red pill and read on? As  members of an online communies of big and small boobed women (Lobby Biusciastych and Lobby Malobiusciastych) and  participants of endless discussions of blogs of Stanikomania (Bramania) and Balkonetka I and my friend Bromba would like to share all the knowledge we gathered there. We would also like to invite you to join this online comminity of women with well ftted bras irrespective of the actual size of breasts. To give you links to really ingenious articles written by Kasica in her blog of Stanikomania, more articles by Mauzonka from Balkonetka, size charts, how to measure yourself and to calculate a bra size etc etc. This blog will be written in English, I hope it will be convenient enough for you. Unfortunately I don’t speak Portuguese yet.
